Colorization

This tutorial will teach you how to turn a black and white photo into a colored image...using your graphic program. I will be using Corel Paint Shop Program 10. If you would like, you may follow this tutorial using the same image as I am.

This tutorial is a bit long, but just push through it and you will end up with a fantastic colorization. Please credit me if this tutorial was used!

Let's Start (PART 1)

• Take your colorization and pick out a skin tone color you would like to use.
• Create a new raster layer and fill it in with your color swatch, setting the settings to COLOR OR SOFT LIGHT - you can choose which you prefer..

My Result So Far:

The EYES
• Take your selection tool and set the settings like mine below:

• Create a New Raster Layer.
• Zoom in 600%. Carefully outline the center of the eyes with the Selection Tool, making sure you have outlined every bit like I have done below...

• Fill them with any eye color you wish and set the settings to COLOR.

The LIPS
• Take your selection tool like you have done above with the eyes, but outline the lips instead.
• Fill them with any color you wish the lips to be.
•Set the settings to SOFT LIGHT 90%.

The TEETH
• This one is easy...just create a new raster layer, outline the teeth (just like you've done with the lips and eyes) and fill it in with #FFFFFF (white). Set the settings to COLOR 100%.

Extra Detail
For the nails:
Doing the same thing you've done with the lips, eyes, and teeth (outlining w/selection tool, filling in with a color, setting the settings to COLOR); outline the nails and do the above. You may choose any color you want. I'll be using a blue/purple. Set the opacity to 75%.

Make-up
For the Blush • Select the circle selection tool and set the settings to:

CREATE A NEW RASTER LAYER. Select and area around the cheek bone area. Fill it with a light pink color. Set the opacity to 73%.
For the eye shadow
Use this brush:

Create a new raster layer
Zoom in 300%
Choose any color you want and slowly outline her eye lids. Here is mine:

Set the settings to COLOR. Remember, you can use as many colors as you want! I chose two colors: gold and pink.

You're Done!
Add a nice border, and you have now completed your colorization. PLEASE REMEMBER to give credit either on your credit page OR on your colorizatiton image to behindherheart.com - this tutorial took me a LONG time to make, and credit is manditory.
